Mandarin takes the field at The Corral on Friday, Oct. 2, holding first place in FHSAA District 2-5A and a No. 7 ranking in Class 5A.

The Mustangs (4-1) host Lake Mary (1-4) at 6:30 p.m. in a Week 7 matchup against the defending Class 7A state champion. Lake Mary captured its first state football title last season but has opened 2026 at 1-4, according to the Orlando Sentinel's Week 7 preview.

Mustangs enter Week 7 ranked No. 7

Mandarin holds the No. 7 spot in both the Duval Sports D1 Top 25 power rankings and the USA TODAY Florida Network Super 10 poll for Class 5A. The ranking held steady after Mandarin's 31-10 homecoming win over Fletcher on Sept. 25 at The Corral.

Wright, Foster lead Mandarin offense

Quarterback Knox Annis, a University of Miami commit, threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns in that game. Running back Shaunqueze Foster added 111 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Brysen Wright caught seven passes for 147 yards and a touchdown.

Wright, ranked the No. 1 overall prospect in the class of 2028 by the USA TODAY Network, averages 101.4 receiving yards per game this season, according to MaxPreps. Foster leads the team with nine total touchdowns and averages 132.2 rushing yards per game.

Mandarin's defense held Fletcher to 83 total yards. Defensive tackle Kindrid Outland recorded more than a half-dozen tackles, and the Mustangs sacked Fletcher quarterback Ty Keister four times, according to Jacksonville.com.

"What we did in the first half on defense, if we keep that up in the second half, we'll be unstoppable," Outland told Jacksonville.com after the Sept. 25 win.

Head coach Toby Bullock's team bounced back from a 31-13 loss to top-ranked Raines on Sept. 18 with the win over Fletcher. The Mustangs have won 11 of their past 13 games, according to MaxPreps. Linebacker Jerel Stephens leads the team with 6.8 tackles per game, while Kaden Bryant has recorded 2.5 sacks.

Three district games follow Lake Mary

After Lake Mary, Mandarin travels to Ponte Vedra on Oct. 9 and Beachside on Oct. 16 before hosting Bartram Trail on Oct. 23 to close out district play.
