Jacksonville Roller Derby celebrates its 20th anniversary with a double-header at Skate Station Funworks in Mandarin on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. at 3461 Kori Road, with the first whistle at 6 p.m. Game 1 pits the River City Rat Pack against Tallahassee Roller Derby. Game 2 sends the First Coast Fatales against the Bold City Bandits, according to the league's ticket page.
Advance adult tickets cost $18. Tickets at the door are $20. Kids 10 and under get in free, and a military and first responder discount is available at the door.
The league was founded in March 2006 as Jacksonville's first and only flat-track roller derby organization, according to its website. It now fields more than 70 skaters across three travel teams and three home teams. Every member is a volunteer.
Jacksonville Roller Derby joined the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) in December 2010. The international governing body represents 412 member leagues on six continents. The league has ranked among the WFTDA's top 20 teams, reaching as high as No. 10 in the world in 2018, according to the league's website.
Melissa Ludington, a competitor and coach who goes by the derby name "Deviant," was a guest on WJCT's First Coast Connect to discuss the anniversary and the league's community roots. The segment highlighted the league's fundraising, outreach and commitment to inclusion.
Off the track, the league has partnered with organizations including The Arc of Jacksonville, Children's Miracle Network, St. Jude Children's Hospital, Toys for Tots and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
The league also counts Olympic gold medalist Erin Jackson among its skaters. Jackson, the first Black woman to win a Winter Olympic gold medal in an individual sport, earned the 2014 WFTDA Division 1 Playoff MVP while skating for the Jacksonville team. In a February 2026 interview with NBC Bay Area from Milan during the Winter Olympics, Jackson called the sport's community appeal a standout: "Just the community, and just the social aspect of it all, is really cool."
Advance tickets are available on the league's website. For questions, email [email protected].
