The Bolles girls golf team shot an 8-under-par 272 on Saturday, Sept. 19, to win the girls division at the seventh annual Jacksonville Beach High School Invitational by 29 strokes.
The score ranks among the lowest team totals in Bolles girls golf history, according to the school's athletics department. Beachside and Ponte Vedra tied for second at 301.
McGrath's late birdie run leads the Bulldogs
Senior Chloe McGrath, who has committed to play at William & Mary, led the Bulldogs with a 64 to finish as individual runner-up. Beachside's Lily Wachter won medalist honors with a tournament-record 63, according to the St. Augustine Record.
McGrath birdied her final four holes, making putts from 3 to 15 feet. "I found my focus late in the round ... We all played solid," McGrath told the St. Augustine Record after the Sept. 19 round.
The rest of the lineup delivered. Eighth grader Chloe Pierce shot a 67, Riley Powell posted a 69, Grace Breffitt carded a 72 and Ellyn Park finished at 74.
Girls coach Michael McGrath told the St. Augustine Record on Sept. 19 that the team had rarely been at full strength during the fall because players had been competing in statewide junior tournaments. He said the invitational showed what the Bulldogs can do with their complete lineup.
Bolles hosts the invitational for the first time
The tournament, held at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club, marked the first year Bolles served as host. Michael McGrath and boys coach Trey Leonard, a 2005 Bolles graduate, led tournament operations alongside the Jacksonville Area Golf Association.
The Bolles boys placed seventh in their division. The combined boys and girls teams finished third overall at 600, behind Beachside (584) and Ponte Vedra (593).
State's top-ranked golfer eyes postseason run
Chloe McGrath entered the fall ranked No. 1 in Florida across all classifications in the iWanamaker index, according to a Jacksonville.com season preview published Sept. 1. She was co-medalist at the FHSAA District 4-1A and Region 1-1A tournaments in 2025, shooting 71 at districts and 68 at regionals.
Bolles competes in FHSAA Class 1A. District tournaments run Oct. 26-28, regionals Nov. 2-4 and the Class 1A state tournament Nov. 17-18 at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills.
