The Bolles School unveiled Chipper Jones Stadium and the McKenzie Wilson Softball Field, completing athletic facility upgrades at its San Jose campus for the 2026-27 school year. The field is named for McKenzie Wilson, a Bolles sophomore, cheerleader and softball player who died of meningitis. Her family established the McKenzie Noelle Wilson Foundation in her memory, according to Resident News.

The stadium and the Jerry and Bruce Chappell Fieldhouse debuted at the varsity baseball home opener on Feb. 19, with Bolles alumnus and Atlanta Braves great Chipper Jones on hand for the ceremony, Jacksonville Magazine reported. The Chappell Fieldhouse includes modern locker rooms, coaches' offices, video analysis space and upgraded spectator areas.

The softball complex also received major upgrades: new bleachers, lighting, locker rooms and a press box.

The Fox family funded the softball investment. The Bolles School credited the family on June 30 with helping elevate girls' athletics through their support of the softball program.

George H. Hodges Field, the football venue, received upgraded turf over the summer. That field is backed by an $8 million planned gift from the estate of Kernan and George H. Hodges Jr. '56, the largest single contribution in the school's 93-year history, according to the Ponte Vedra Recorder. The gift is designated for long-term upkeep of Hodges Field and its supporting facilities.

"George and Kernan's extraordinary estate gift safeguards this tradition and strengthens the future of every program and student-athlete who calls this field home," Carol Nimitz, Bolles chief advancement officer, told the Ponte Vedra Recorder in March.

Beyond athletics, the school completely renovated the Canteen, a student lunch and social spot on the San Jose campus. The space now features Champ's Burgers and a sandwich and wrap station called Melt'd, according to a Bolles facilities update published Thursday, Aug. 27. A new classroom was added in Ulmer Hall, and new walkways now connect the Stein Fine Arts Center, McGehee Auditorium and Bolles Hall.

The changes keep coming. The Baker-Gate Petroleum Company Track is scheduled for an upgrade this winter.

"These facilities, along with great coaches and a culture of pursuing excellence, help attract families to consider Bolles," Head of School Tyler Hodges said in March, when the school broke ground on its Hunt Soccer Complex as part of the same building push.

Bolles football opens its season on Hodges Field's new turf in September.
