The Jacksonville Jaguars nominated Bolles flag football player Lorena Clutter as their female pick for the NFL's 2026 Latino Youth Honors.
Clutter, identified by The Bolles School as a senior wide receiver and linebacker for the Bulldogs, is among the student-athletes recognized league-wide through the fourth annual program. The NFL, Procter & Gamble and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation partner on the honors, which celebrate high school seniors who excel in football, academics and engagement with Latino culture and community.
Nominees must play flag or tackle football and maintain at least a 3.0 grade-point average.
Jaguars will honor nominees before Patriots game
Bolles announced Clutter's selection on Sunday, Sept. 13. She was recognized during halftime of the Bolles-Bishop Kenny football game on Friday, Sept. 11.
Clutter shares the Jaguars' spotlight with Nease High School running back Enrique Ordoñez, the team's male nominee. Both are scheduled to be honored as South End Zone honorees before kickoff at the Jaguars vs. New England Patriots game on Sunday, Sept. 27, at EverBank Stadium.
Recognition ties into Hispanic Heritage Month push
The recognition falls during the Jaguars' "Somos DUUUVAL" Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, a series of community outreach programs, youth football camps and student-athlete events. Adriel Rocha, the Jaguars' vice president of community impact and youth development, said the initiative aims to strengthen ties with Jacksonville's Hispanic community.
"We are harnessing the power of service to strengthen connections and make a lasting difference in this community," Rocha said, according to Yahoo Sports.
National finalists compete for college grant money
All 32 NFL teams select one male and one female high school senior football player as nominees. A panel then narrows the field to eight division finalists, one per NFL division. National winners receive $25,000 college grants, and the six remaining finalists each receive $5,000, according to the Hispanic Heritage Foundation.
The program has recent Jacksonville ties. Last year's male national winner was Edward Jordan IV of Beachside High School in Jacksonville, also nominated by the Jaguars. Jordan received a $25,000 grant.
Clutter and Ordoñez are next set to appear at EverBank Stadium on Sept. 27, with a potential $25,000 grant on the line if either reaches the national stage.
