A kosher-style deli serving bagels, smoked lox and brined pastrami is preparing to open in Mandarin.
Bell and Layton’s Delicatessen and Provisions plans to occupy the former Player’s Grille space at 10140 San Jose Blvd., according to WhatNow Jacksonville. The business’s Instagram account lists the same address.
The 5,094-square-foot shop is the project of business partners Brian Bell and Will Layton, who spent months searching for a location, WhatNow reported. The pair want to revive a style of deli dining that has been absent from Jacksonville since Worman's Bakery and Deli closed in 2009, according to the Business Journal.
Bell and Layton's menu is expected to feature bagels, smoked lox and brined pastrami. The business also plans to add kosher and non-kosher groceries at a later stage, according to the Business Journal.
The business describes itself on Instagram as an “old-school, kosher-style deli.” WhatNow reported Oct. 26 that an opening was expected the following month. Customers should check the business’s account for a confirmed opening date and hours.
