The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office will close its District 3 substation on Liberty Ridge Drive on Thursday, Oct. 15, as the agency prepares to relocate the facility. A new address and reopening date have not been announced.
The substation at 8875 Liberty Ridge Drive, Suite 110, serves the Mandarin and Southside areas. JSO announced the closure Oct. 13, directing residents who need in-person services to other district substations or its recently opened Public Services Building.
News4Jax reported the closure Tuesday, Oct. 13.
District Commander Petena Tillman oversees District 3, which covers Mandarin and Southside neighborhoods.
Where residents can get services
JSO said its Public Services Building and District 1 substation at 450 Magnolia St., along with District 2, 4, 5 and 6 substations, will remain open throughout the relocation.
The agency said the alternative locations will prevent an interruption in public services during the move.
All substations operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Magnolia Street Public Services Building, which opened Sept. 28, provides fingerprinting, public records requests, performer work identification applications and renewals, and recruitment services.
The building is near JSO's new administrative headquarters at 532 Riverside Ave. in the Brooklyn neighborhood. Free public parking is available on the first floor of its attached garage.
The closure announcement concerns the District 3 substation facility. JSO has not announced a suspension of patrol services in Mandarin or Southside.
Closure follows headquarters relocation
The District 3 move is part of a broader relocation of JSO facilities across Jacksonville.
In February 2025, the Jacksonville City Council unanimously approved moving JSO's headquarters from the Police Memorial Building on East Bay Street to the former Florida Blue building on Riverside Avenue, First Coast News reported.
The project involved an approximately 18-month transition and more than 300,000 square feet of leased space.
JSO opened the new Public Services Building Sept. 28 after moving District 1 personnel from their former Norwood Avenue offices earlier that month.
The District 3 closure marks another step in the agency's facility transition, although JSO has not specified where the Mandarin-Southside substation will reopen.
How to contact District 3

JSO's nonemergency number is 904-630-0500. Residents should call 911 for emergencies.
The agency said updates about the relocation will be posted on its official District 3 information page.
