The Williams Family YMCA in Mandarin is adding a USTA Teen Tennis Program with Friday Night Match Play to its fall 2026 schedule. The First Coast YMCA branch announced the lineup Tuesday, Sept. 1.

The teen tennis program joins more than 70 weekly group exercise classes, daily pickleball, expanded homeschool physical education and SilverSneakers fitness sessions six days a week, according to Florida NewsLine.

Clay Courts Serve Players From Age 4 to Their 90s

The facility's 13 clay courts host tennis for players ages 4 through their 90s. Youth classes move from fundamentals into advanced junior clinics and competitive play. Adults can choose Tennis 101, refresher clinics, USTA League teams, Working Women's teams or private lessons. Tennis Director Melissa Glasgow, identified in the YMCA's summer programming announcements, oversees the courts.

Women's League Team Already Won a Sectional Title

The program is already producing results. A women's USTA Florida Adult 40 & Over League 4.5 team from the Williams Family YMCA won the 2026 Sectional Championship, according to the First Coast YMCA.

Homeschool PE Program Marks Two Decades of Service

The homeschool PE program, open to members and non-members, has run for more than 20 years. Instructors hold national certifications and additional child-health curriculum credentials. The Williams Family YMCA is an approved Florida Physical Education Program provider, a designation shared across all 16 First Coast YMCA locations.

Programming Coordinator Emphasizes Confidence Building

Julie Pickard, the YMCA's family programming coordinator, described the organization's approach to youth programs in an Aug. 1 Florida NewsLine feature on summer specialty camps: "Our goal is to provide experiences that help children discover their passions while having fun in a supportive environment . . . Whether they're learning a new sport, creating a robot or discovering how the human body works, every camper leaves with new skills and greater confidence."

Fall Schedule Rounds Out With Fitness and Aqua Classes

Beyond tennis and homeschool PE, the fall schedule includes Les Mills strength and cardio classes, line dancing three days a week and aqua fitness Monday through Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. SilverSneakers classes run Monday through Saturday for older adults focused on strength, balance and flexibility.
