Mandarin-area voters who have not yet cast a ballot have one day left: polls open at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, and close at 7 p.m.
Early voting ended Sunday, Nov. 1. Voters who still need to cast a ballot must go to their assigned polling place on Election Day, according to a Nov. 1 announcement from Duval County Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland.
Mandarin-area voters should confirm their assigned precinct before heading out. The precinct number and polling location are printed on each voter's information card. Voters can also look up their polling place at duvalelections.gov or by calling 904-255-VOTE (8683).
One confirmed change affects Mandarin: Precinct 604 moved from Mandarin Presbyterian Church on Loretto Road to Episcopal Church of Our Saviour at 12236 Mandarin Road, according to a June polling-place update from Holland's office. Voters in that precinct should have received an updated voter information card.
Bring photo ID
Every voter must show a current, valid photo ID with a signature. Acceptable forms include a Florida driver license, U.S. passport, military ID, student ID, debit or credit card, retirement center ID and concealed weapon license, according to Jacksonville.com. If a photo ID does not include a signature, voters must also show a separate ID that does.
Voters who arrive without any photo ID can still cast a provisional ballot. Election officials then review it to determine whether the vote counts.
What's on the ballot
Three Duval County School Board seats are on the Nov. 3 ballot. Runoff elections will decide Districts 2, 4 and 6 after no candidate won a majority in the August primary, according to Jacksonville.com.
The runoff matchups:
- District 2: Donovan Bradley vs. Donna Mae Westrich
- District 4: James "Coach" Jacobs vs. Rhodesia "Rho" Butler
- District 6: Lindsey Denmark vs. Clarence "CJ" James
Voters will also see a renewal of the 1-mill property tax for Duval County Public Schools. Voters first approved the tax in 2022, when the district was facing its worst teacher shortage in five years with more than 400 vacancies, according to the Jacksonville Public Education Fund. The district requested the Jacksonville City Council place the renewal on the Nov. 3 ballot. The tax supports teacher pay and funding for arts and athletics programs.
Mail-in ballot deadline
Voters who requested a mail-in ballot cannot drop it off at a neighborhood polling place on Election Day. Under Florida law, all domestic vote-by-mail ballots must be received by the Supervisor of Elections office by 7 p.m. Tuesday to be counted. A postmark on or before Election Day does not qualify as timely delivery.
Holland's office is at 105 E. Monroe St. in Jacksonville. The phone number is 904-255-VOTE (8683).
