Mandarin High School junior Brysen Wright became the first high school athlete to receive a signature football cleat from Battle Sports when the company released the AstroFly on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Wright turned 16 on Tuesday, Aug. 25. The neon orange cleats dropped the next day, retailing for $169.99 and limited to 600 pairs. They are available on the Battle Sports website and at Dick's Sporting Goods, News4Jax reported.
The shoe's full name is the BFYE 1 AstroFly. BFYE stands for "Best From Your Era," one of Wright's nicknames. The design carries the Battle Sports name on one side, his other nickname "Tweaker" on the opposite side, "BFYE" on the upper edge of the sole and "Astrofly" on the heel.
Wright is the No. 1-rated recruit in the Class of 2028 by ESPN and no lower than third by 247 Sports and Rivals. At 6-foot-3½ and 215 pounds, the receiver and defensive back has compiled 77 receptions for 1,629 yards and 18 touchdowns through his first two varsity seasons at Mandarin, according to DuvalSports. As a sophomore he added 63 tackles and five interceptions on defense.
The shoe deal is the latest NIL milestone for Wright. He signed a five-figure deal with sports card company Wild Card last year, becoming the first known local player to land that type of agreement, according to News4Jax.
National sneaker and sports media took notice of the release:
@MaxPreps: "5-star Mandarin WR Brysen Wright is the No. 1 overall prospect in the Class of 2028 and now the first Battle Sports athlete with a signature cleat"
NiceKicks also highlighted the deal in a post on X that drew 187 retweets.
Wright's father, Colby Wright, and others in the football community have nicknamed the teenager "Best in the World." News4Jax reporter Justin Barney compared the signature-shoe distinction to names like LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The Mustangs opened their 2026 season with a 38-21 win over McArthur on Friday, Aug. 21, in Hollywood, Fla. Wright finished that game with 81 receiving yards, a touchdown, three tackles, a tackle for loss, a pass breakup and an interception. He holds offers from Ohio State, LSU, Alabama, Georgia and Miami, among others.
