Crate & Barrel appears poised to open its first Jacksonville-area store at St. Johns Town Center, according to a site-work plan under review by the city.
A demolition exhibit dated Friday, Oct. 2, identifies the project as "SJTC – Crate & Barrel" at 10274 Buckhead Branch Drive, the Jacksonville Daily Record first reported. The property is the former site of a planned Pinstripes bowling and entertainment venue near Nordstrom.
The permit application covers demolition and removal of existing utilities. Jacksonville-based England-Thims & Miller Inc. is listed as the civil engineer.
No building construction permit has been filed, and city records do not specify the size of the proposed store or an opening date. Crate & Barrel also has not formally announced a Jacksonville location.
The furniture and housewares retailer currently operates Florida stores in Boca Raton, Coral Gables, Hallandale Beach, Sarasota, Tampa and West Palm Beach. A Jacksonville store would expand the chain's presence in the state.
Crate & Barrel would replace unrealized Pinstripes project
The Buckhead Branch Drive property previously was slated for a Pinstripes bowling, dining and entertainment venue.
Pinstripes Holdings Inc. had proposed a two-story, 26,370-square-foot venue with an estimated project cost of $8 million. A former West Elm building on the property received a demolition permit in May 2024 to make way for the project.
The city issued a site-work permit for Pinstripes on March 12, 2025, but the larger construction project never moved forward. Pinstripes later filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September 2025.
As of September, the site remained a grassed lot.
Town Center continues attracting home furnishings retailers
St. Johns Town Center already has several major home furnishings retailers, including RH, Pottery Barn and Arhaus. Simon Property Group says the Jacksonville shopping center has more than 175 stores and restaurants.
RH's three-story, 70,000-square-foot Jacksonville gallery includes furniture and home decor showrooms and a rooftop restaurant. The nearby AC Hotel Jacksonville St Johns Town Center opened in March 2024.
Crate & Barrel Holdings is headquartered in Northbrook, Illinois, and is owned by Germany-based Otto Group. Its brands include Crate & Barrel and CB2.
The proposed Jacksonville store remains in the permitting stage, with no opening date announced.
