Mandarin Oaks Elementary will host a Middle School Informational Night at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in the school's Multipurpose Room, according to the school's announcement. The event is for Mandarin families with students in fourth and fifth grade.

Representatives from Mandarin Middle, Twin Lakes, Julia Landon, Alfred I. DuPont, James Weldon Johnson and LaVilla are expected. Families can learn about school options and ask questions about the district's application process, the announcement says.

For families planning for 2027-28, Duval County Public Schools says the special assignment lottery application opens Dec. 1, 2026. Students who want to remain at their attendance-area school do not need to apply, and placement at a school outside that area is not guaranteed, the district says.
